Where is Lu Lou's Lakeside Grill & Chill?

Right on the beach in Oyama, BC, on the narrow strip of land between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake. About 20 minutes north of Kelowna airport and 15 minutes south of Vernon, in the community of Lake Country.

What are your hours?

Open daily through lake season: Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays are pizza and hard/soft ice cream only. Lake season runs roughly May long weekend through Thanksgiving.

Do you take reservations?

No. We're counter-service, walk up, order, grab a spot in the sand.

Is there parking?

There's a small lot beside the building and street parking nearby. On hot weekends it fills up fast, so most folks walk, bike, or paddle in.

Can I get there by boat?

Yes. Pull up on the Wood Lake side and beach your boat, SUP, kayak or canoe right in front of us. No dock, it's a sand beach landing.

Can I bike there on the rail trail?

Yes. The Okanagan Rail Trail runs right past us. We've got a bike rack and cold drinks waiting.

Are dogs allowed?

Friendly dogs on leash are welcome on the patio and the beach side.

Is it kid-friendly?

Very. Kids run around in the sand while parents eat. Hot dogs, soft-serve, and a beach, that's the whole pitch.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

The order window and main patio are step-free on packed gravel. The sand beach itself is not, but you can eat with a full lake view from the patio.

Do you take debit and credit?

Yes, debit, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, tap, and cash. No personal cheques.

What's a Sloppy Joe?

Seasoned ground beef in a rich tomato sauce, piled on a soft toasted bun. Ours is the house specialty, messy on purpose, eat it with two hands.

What's a Baked Boat Dog?

Our loaded all-beef hot dog: grilled onions, melted cheese, mustard, and a pickle on the side. Named for the people who eat them straight off a swim platform.

What should I order first?

The house Sloppy Joe, it's what we built the menu around. After that, a Baked Boat Dog if you're sharing, and a vanilla soft-serve to finish.

Are your hot dogs all-beef?

Yes. 100% all-beef, no fillers, snappy natural casing.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Stick to what's on the menu board, fries, onion rings, tater cakes, coleslaw, and the soft-serve / shake / sundae / hard-scoop lineup are not bread-based. We don't offer gluten-free buns. Shared kitchen, so we can't guarantee zero cross-contact.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes, hand-cut fries, onion rings, tater cakes, coleslaw, and the full soft-serve / shake / sundae lineup. We don't currently do a vegetarian Sloppy Joe or hot dog.

Can I just get ice cream?

Yes. Soft-serve is its own line at the window, vanilla, chocolate, twist, dipped, floats and shakes. No food order required.

Can I order ahead?

Online ordering is launching soon. For now, call the window at 250-548-3400 when you're close and we'll have it ready.

Do you cater or host private events?

No catering, no event bookings. But if you've got a group on the beach, phone us ahead of time and we'll have it ready, you come grab it from the window and bring it back to your spot.

When are quieter times to come?

Weekdays before noon and after 2, and evenings after 7 Sunday through Thursday. Weekend lunches will be busier, call ahead to skip the wait.
