Our Story

Sand under foot. Joe in hand.

Lu Lou's is a small, family-run grill on the beach in Oyama, BC. We sit on the narrow neck of land between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake, halfway between Kelowna and Vernon, on the Okanagan Rail Trail. Built for lake-day families, rail-trail riders, boaters tying up for lunch, and anyone who'd rather eat on a beach than in a dining room.

Short menu, every item earned. Sloppy Joes piled on toasted, garlic-buttered brioche, eat them with two hands. Snappy all-beef franks, eight ways, from a five-dollar kid's dog to a Baked Boat Dog you'll split. Hand-cut fries with sea salt. Soft-serve in three flavours and one mood. You order at the window. We hand it over hot. You eat it with sand in your shoes.

We're not trying to be a restaurant. We're the reason you stay one more hour.

The whole operation

One window.
One beach.

That is it, the whole restaurant: a window, a couple of umbrellas, picnic tables, and the sand. No dining room, no reservations. You order, you find a spot, you eat it with the lake in front of you.
